Depending on type of motors, the GENERATION IG offers the following drive for basic mechanisms:

• Diesel
• Electric

Diesel drive

This type of drive runs basic rig machines and mechanisms by the help of internal-combustion engines, operating in compression ignition cycle through transmission.

It is the element of drill rigs of types: NBO-D, ZD-86-1, ZD-86-2, 3000DGU, 5000DGU based on power units of the following types:

• SA-10, SA-25, SA-30 (w/diesel 6CHN 21/21)
• ASDU-2SH-500-580-U2
• ASDU-1SH-500-U2
• ASDU-2SH-КП-U2 (w/diesel В2-500)

The diesel type (class) is available for change as per the customers’ request.

Electric drive

The GENERATION Industrial Group offers wide range of electric drives that could be classified:

• by engine type: electric ac-drive and electric dc-drive
• by speed adjustment:  nonadjustable and adjustable electric drives

Since in complicated drilling conditions the adjustment of pump discharge is required to provide the needed rate of penetration, as well as at recovery of mud solution circulation; it is preferred for mud pump to use adjustable electric drive of smooth variation of rotary speed.

Nowadays the variable-frequency electric ac-drive is the most advantageous and easy to use; therefore it is the most rational to use the drive of this type.

Advantages of variable-frequency electric drive in comparison with thyristor dc-drive:

• reliable and user-friendly
• cost-effective service (engine does not require maintenance (w/o collector assembly)
• high efficiency
• small dimensions and easy-for-use system (filter compensation unit is not required)
