Gas-diesel (dual-fuel) electric power stations are manufactured on the base of diesel engines.

Gas supply mains and control cabinet to switch between automatic and manual modes of fuel supply are provided as optional equipment.

“Dual-fuel” means simultaneous combustion of primary and secondary fuels. In the dual-fuel system the primary fuel is a gas-air mixture based on methane СН4 (methane content makes between 40 and 90% of fuel), diesel fuel is used as secondary fuel.

Engine parameters such as exhaust temperature, temperatures of lubrication oil and coolant are as per the parameters of common-used diesel engine. As soon as gas comes into the engine, electronic regulator decreases diesel fuel supply, stabilizing number of rotations during the process of loading. The engine is started and stopped running on diesel fuel only. Dual-fuel system allows users to set diesel fuel/gas ratio in site. Dual-fuel systems operate with diesel fuel of any type (GOST 305-82) и со всеми видами метанового газа (including natural gas, manure gas, raw gas and others).

The units are completed with all equipment required, including gas flow meter, control panel and other devices. Also we offer standard options and control panels FG Wilson for traditional diesel equipment.

Control system automatically switches over the engine to 100% run on diesel fuel (switched operation mode from dual-fuel to diesel), maintaining the required output power at following conditions:

  • No natural gas;
  • Low pressure of natural gas;
  • High pressure of natural gas;
  • High temperature of exhaust gas;
  • Load less than 10% (recommended) of nominal capacity;
  • Load higher than 100% of nominal capacity.

The engine starts-up and stops on diesel fuel only. Dual-fuel system is completed with control panel that monitors and displays the main parameters of engine and of dual-fuel system. The panel has all sensors required. Basing on sensor signals and limits set by user the control panel turns dual-fuel mode on and off, if necessary. The panel controls the following parameters of engine: exhaust temperature, air pressure and temperature in outlet collector, inlet vacuum and engine vibration. Control panel also checks natural gas pressure at inlet and outlet of regulator. The panel has LEDs indicating the operation condition of dual-fuel system. /p>

Package contents of dual-fuel (gas-diesel) electric power stations

  • Diesel generator with control panel and additional options (for dual-fuel stations there are standard control panels and options of diesel generators FG Wilson).
  • Gas mains – gas reducer, dual shuoff valve, gas filter, gas supply control valve.
  • Gas-air mixer.
  • Dual-fuel system control panel (controller).
  • Set of sensors.

Advantages of dual-fuel electric power stations comparing to diesel electric power stations

  • Low emissions;
  • Longer oil-change intervals;
  • Higher payback due to use of natural gas;
  • Large reserves of diesel fuel are not required;
  • Maintenance cost reduction.

Comparing to gas electric power stations

  • Independent of natural gas availability;
  • Fuel reserves (backup);
  • lower dimensions;
  • higher load per step;
  • no high-voltage ignition system;
  • low initial costs (investments);
  • low current operational costs.

Use of dual-fuel electric power stations becomes more cost effective due to low cost of gas in comparison to diesel fuel, as well as if generation plants are operated for long periods during a year.
